èƵ Community Helps Jags Unload, Move In
Posted on August 12, 2017
Today at the èƵ, everyone from football players to faculty members helped move more than 1,200 freshmen into their new homes on the USA campus.
It was Move-in Day at èƵ, as hundreds of USA students and employees unloaded suitcases, boxes and everything imaginable from packed vehicles and carried them into residence hall rooms, much to the delight of the new students and the relief of their families.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Joe Long of Guin, Ala., whose daughter, Kaitlyn, was moving into Epsilon 1 residence hall, as cars lined up nearby to unload. “This was very helpful and very welcome.”
The volunteer movers showed up at 8 o’clock this morning and worked all day to relocate the Class of 2021 into the University’s 32 residence halls.
Move-in Day at èƵ kicks off the University’s “Week of Welcome and Beyond,” two weeks of special events to show students where they belong at USA. Events such as First Night, Convocation, LGBTQ+ Welcome Reception, Get On Board Day and the JP Block Party highlight èƵ’s diverse campus community and get students connected with the people and places that will be a big part of their lives at èƵ Alabama.
In all, more than 2,300 students live on-campus at èƵ. The first day of fall semester classes at USA is Wednesday.
